The Amelia island Chamber Music Festival is sponsoring a string program for the local boys and girls club. The local schools do not provide string education on Amelia Island. So the chamber Festival is working to develop a youth orchestra. I am fortune to be the designated luthier for the youth program. I spent this afternoon going over the donated and rental instruments which the students will start playing tomorrow. A few of the instruments were barely playable either from string height, bridge adjustments, sound post alignment, nut height, etc. etc. I am delighted how much tone improvement and playability I was able to coax out of even the half and three-quarter size instruments.
